The Spirit of WKU: The WKU Alma Mater

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuziZ-RiTTUOur group took on The WKU Alma Mater. We spent time reading over it and then walked around campus to shoot scenes that were reflective of WKU as well as the alma mater. We did this during the sunset so the light was pretty and serene. Once we were able to shoot some scenes, we walked up to the 7th floor of the library and shot footage of the sunset, which is used at the very end of the video. It was the perfect ending. The next time we were able to get together we set up a backdrop and cameras and recorded students reading the alma mater. Once we gathered all our material I set out and edited everything together. I handed off the footage to David as well to see how much he could do. He doesn't have as much experience editing so I went ahead and edited a second version as well. In the end I used his edit and then layed down the b-roll on top of that.I think this would be improved if we'd picked a poem or something that's easier to pronounce. A lot of the students struggled with annunciation. I would have also preferred to shoot the reading in a pitch black scene or outside somewhere pretty. Audio becomes an issue though. Another thing I would have changed was to have a lot more time to shoot b-roll. We could have picked more scenes that show the campus and such.In the end we learned some things and would do some things differently. Watching the other examples, we could have written a script that would have been strong as well. Anyway, I guess we can always come back with how we'd improve things.
