Let's revisit Halloween. One of my favorite brands, while really out of my reach expense-wise, is Pottery Barn Kids. Their aeshtetic is clean, sweet, and sophisticated while being just for kids. For Halloween they launched a campaign to use images that were shared by their customers. They chose the hashtag #lovemypbk and so far they've had over 35,000 contributions. By using that hashtag people who tag a photo with that hashtag are allowing Pottery Barn Kids to use their image on their instagram feed. It's pretty brilliant. One can tell that Pottery Barn Kids is pretty selective in their choices on the instagram feed. The images used are all creamy and dreamy. I even posted my own picture of my kids in their halloween costumes from PBK and used the hashtag only to realize my image would never be used because it's neither creamy or dreamy. That's ok, I still love my photo. The timing of their posts is pretty smart, they posted from time to time leading up to Halloween with that theme and the strategy appeared that they were trying to push people to their products but by using user submitted images it wasn't too salesy.I love their feed and I'll continue to dream about all my kids purchases being that perfect knowing they probably won't.
